California’s employment laws are in a constant state of flux. During this session, you will learn what employment bills are still pending in the state legislature so that you can be prepared for laws likely to go into effect on January 1, 2024. Gail will also review recent case law developments in the employment area as those also impact your operations.

Gail M. Blanchard-Saiger has over 14 years of experience as a labor and employment attorney representing hospitals, healthcare systems and employers in other industries. Ms. Blanchard-Saiger established her firm in 2008, focusing on wage and hour advice and counseling. Prior to that time, Ms. Blanchard-Saiger was special counsel/senior counsel at Foley and Lardner, LLP. During her 10-year tenure at Foley and Lardner, Ms. Blanchard-Saiger advised California employers on wage and hour issues, conducted wage and hour audits and represented employers in administrative hearings and civil litigation. Ms. Blanchard-Saiger also led wage and hour training programs for management and authored numerous articles on the subject. Ms. Blanchard-Saiger received her law degree from the University of California, King Hall School of Law, where she was a Law Review Editor and graduated Order of the Coif. After law school, Ms. Blanchard-Saiger clerked for the Honorable Garland E. Burrell, Jr. United States District Court Judge, Eastern District of California. Ms. Blanchard-Saiger is a member of the California State Bar.
