An extensive list of legislative terms to assist you in your advocacy efforts and understanding can be found here.

Scheduling an appointment with your Legislator:

Call the Legislator's office or ACHD staff to obtain the name and email address of the scheduler. Send an email that details your request. It can take several weeks for the member's office respond to these requests. Follow-up via email to remind the office, or follow-up with a polite reminder via phone.

Preparing for a meeting with an elected official:

Prepare a written summary of the issue, your concerns, and your recommended solutions.  It is also helpful to note any previous legislative efforts to address your issue.  Contact ACHD's Legislative Department with questions and assistance. Be sure to bring business cards and follow-up with a thank you to the member and staff.
