This week, California's Legislature came together on a bipartisan health care funding plan that will save six hospitals in our region from having to shutter their doors while also lowering taxes and paying down state debts.
Republicans fought hard in the Assembly to ensure that the plan not only didn't raise health care premiums for Californians, but were actually able to guarantee a net tax cut of more than $100 million through the plan.
Without the agreement, skilled nursing facilities would have received a 25 percent reduction in reimbursement rates. Such a massive cut in funds would have likely forced most hospitals attached to skilled nursing facility to close.
