Los Medanos Community Healthcare District was recognized for its summer intern program that provides young adults with valuable work experience while bringing health issue concerns to the public's attention.
The district recently received the 2013 Exceptional Public Outreach & Advocacy Award from the California Special Districts Association for the five-year-old program that works with foster youth.
