The 2013-14 Legislative Session is in motion. With 2,385 bills pending before the Legislature, each committee hearing will have extensive agendas. Now that the bill introduction deadline has passed, Assemblymembers and Senators are facing new deadlines to keep their bills moving through the Legislative process. Legislators will be actively working their bills, presenting them in various committees to ensure they meet the Legislative Deadlines to pass to the opposite house.
Upcoming legislative deadlines are as follows:
Deadline |
|
May 3 |
Last day for policy committees to hear fiscal bills introduced in their house |
May 10 |
Last day for policy committees to hear non-fiscal bills introduced in their house |
May 17 |
Last day for policy committees to meet and report bills prior to June 3 |
May 24 |
Last day for fiscal committees to meet and report bills prior to June 3 |
May 31 |
Last day for each house to pass bills introduced in that house |
As you can see, April and May will be a very busy time for the Legislature, and for ACHD & ALPHA Funds' Legislative Team. Our time will be spent between policy and fiscal committee hearings, representing ACHD & ALPHA Fund on various legislative bills, and advocating on your behalf. During this time, we may need your help sending letters or making calls to your legislators, so please be sure to check your email for Legislative Alerts.
You may monitor ACHD’s legislative positions here, and ALPHA Fund's legislative positions here. Also, hear from the Legislative Team about our most important bills in greater detail at our Annual Legislative Day, on April 8-9, at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento. If you have not yet registered, you may do so here. Please contact the Legislative Department if you have any questions.
