Hospital group warns of ‘health care dominoes’ falling with Medi-Cal cuts

As California lawmakers settle back down to business following their summer recess, California hospital leaders warn the state’s health care safety net is threatened by looming Medi-Cal budget cuts.

In July, the 96-bed Palomar Continuing Care Center in Escondido announced plans to close this fall.

This could be the first of many “health care dominoes” likely to fall unless lawmakers and the Brown Administration reverse the cuts, warned Duane Dauner, president and CEO of the California Hospital Association.
