Construction returns to modified schedule
The new Tehachapi hospital in Capital Hills has been put back on its original amended schedule, according to the construction project manager.
Stacey Pray told Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District board members that construction should be completed in the second quarter of 2016, and certified to open in the third quarter 2016.
"Because of adding back in the original scope and some delays, we are at the same place we were back in October," Pray said.
The initial timeline pegged the construction done by third quarter of 2015 and open by the first quarter of 2016.
In October 2014, the board decided to finish the hospital construction in phases to stave off an estimated $23 million construction deficit, or else the project would run out of money.
The move shaved costs down to $5.8 million, then bounced back to $14.7 million because surgery and the kitchen had to be added back into the scope of work.
