FALLBROOK – For the 2013-2014 year, requests for funding from the Fallbrook Healthcare District’s (FHD) grant program totaled over $650,000.
"Every program presented was worthy of consideration," said FHD administrator Vi Dupre. "Many of the applicants were experiencing increased demands for services while funding sources continue to diminish. The board of directors is diligent in its review and consideration of each request."
A total of $556,159 was awarded by the district at its July 10 board meeting. Grants were presented to 17 different health-related organizations and projects. Programs of the grant recipient organizations vary broadly and persons served range from infants through the senior population. Some programs extend services that benefit whole families; some bring health and well-being services to many who may otherwise have limited access to such things as medical, dental and mental health care. Transportation, groceries, health education, physical therapies, and health screenings are also benefits stemming from the work of the varied grant recipient programs.
