(November 8, 2017) The Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) is pleased to announce the election of Harry Weis to the Board of Directors. Mr. Weis was approved by ACHD’s Board of Directors which filled one of the two vacancies on the Board in early November.
There are currently four active Chief Executive Officers serving on ACHD’s Board of Directors. Mr. Weis has served as the Chief Executive Officer for Tahoe Forest Health System since 2015.
Prior to joining Tahoe Forest Health System, Mr. Weis held positions as Vice President of Hospital Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Adventist Healthcare, and Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer for South Coast Medical Center and Affiliates. He has over 39 years of extensive strategy, acquisition, financial and operational experience in the non-profit sector. Mr. Weis is credited with a successful financial turnaround of the County Medical Center, including hospital upgrades and new and improved service lines as well as successful implementation of nearly $50 million in capital investments. Mr. Weis stated “I am excited to serve on ACHD’s Board of Directors and apply my hospital experience and administrative expertise to the Board.” California Healthcare Districts respond to the specialized health needs of California communities. Voters created 79 Healthcare Districts to fulfill health local care needs. Of these, 54 serve the state’s rural areas. Healthcare Districts provide access to essential health services and are directly accountable at the community level. As a result, tens of millions of Californians have been able to access care that would otherwise be out of reach.
