Hospital and healthcare district leaders face an array of challenges in the modern healthcare environment ranging from the high cost of labor and supplies, to low reimbursement, looming seismic challenges, and
and the ever-present need to demonstrate value for the communities they serve, among others.
The common thread among these challenges? They are each significantly influenced and impacted by legislative and regulatory decisions.
The most successful healthcare districts build and maintain positive relationships with key decision makers, including local, state, and federal elected leaders, department heads, and regulators —relationships that can open doors and hearts.
Relationships are built over time through effective advocacy campaigns that educate and inform decision-makers about the vital role of hospitals and healthcare districts in communities, to share insight into their mission and goals and the challenges they face, and to inform, in clear terms, how decision-maker action can either contribute to — or detract from — those efforts.

First impressions are key to establishing strong relationships with elected officials and decision
makers — and those relationships can lead to legislative or regulatory action. Wouldn’t it be nice to
practice before heading to the Capitol for your advocacy meeting? Well now you can.
Building upon the lessons of Advocacy 101, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a
simulated advocacy meeting with the Galvanized Strategies facilitator, a seasoned legislative staff
member and hospital/health district government affairs officer, to practice their pitch in advance of
the big game. The Advocacy Simulation Lab includes open discussion and feedback to help
attendees refine and elevate their performance to improve the likelihood of success.
