At this time of year, many of us create “goals for the year” or resolutions. “Better heath” is usually on most lists. Rarely do our resolutions include: “survive a heart attack” or “get treated for an injury” or “have successful emergency surgery.”
The reality, however, is that many of us, over the course of the coming year and beyond, will face serious medical problems, often requiring emergency care or hospitalization. Planning for that possibility is the responsibility of community leaders and medical professionals, who are responsible for making sure this community has the best medical care and facilities possible.
Fortunately Kaweah Delta Hospital, which is owned by the citizens of this community, has over many years, developed a wide range of in-patient and out-patient healthcare services that are well beyond the scope of healthcare services that might otherwise be enjoyed by a community of our size. These include: cardiac surgery, orthopedic surgery, cancer services, rehabilitation, mental health, neurosurgery, and neonatal intensive care services. More than simply being available, each of these services meets national standards of quality and are formally recognized as distinguished services by accreditation agencies and health care quality rating agencies.
