Sacramento – April 9, 2014 – At the Association of California Healthcare District’s (ACHD) 2014 Legislative Day on April 7, 2014, Senator Jim Nielsen (R- Gerber) was recognized as the Association’s 2013 Legislator of the Year.
Senator Nielsen was selected for this award in recognition of his voting record in support of Association positions, as well as his authorship of SB 646, legislation to address reductions in Medi-Cal reimbursement for Distinct-Part Skilled Nursing services. Additionally, Senator Nielsen was a principle co-author of AB 900 (Alejo), a bill that also addressed the issue of reductions in Medi-Cal reimbursement.
Senator Nielsen well understands the critical role that Healthcare Districts play in California’s health care safety net and the enthusiasm that he demonstrates in advocating on issues of importance to Healthcare Districts is greatly appreciated.
Senator Nielsen represents four Healthcare Districts – Corning Healthcare District, Del Notre Healthcare District, Mayers Memorial Hospital District, and Mountain Communities Healthcare District.
