Grossmont Healthcare District awarded 39 scholarships to students from 20 East County area high schools this month.
The scholarships went to students who have expressed interest in a career as a healthcare professional.
Students from the local schools were picked by school administrators for academic excellence, citizenship and a desire to improve the world through a career in the healthcare field.
“It’s important for us to invest in America’s youth and encourage these young adults as they continue their studies in the healthcare field with the goal of serving in the workforce of tomorrow,” said Michael Emerson, the District’s board president.
