REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2015) – Modern Healthcare Magazine recently revealed its 2015 ranking of the 100 “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” and Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) was included on the celebrated list for the fourth time in five years. The Redondo Beach-based preventive health agency ranked 28th overall and 13th in the provider/insurer subcategory – climbing up several spots from its 2014 rankings (39th overall and 15th provider/insurer).

In particular, BCHD garnered praise from Modern Healthcare for involving all staff members in its annual strategic planning process and for maintaining a low rate of voluntary employee turnover. The publication also cited BCHD’s wide variety of employee wellness and prevention incentives as key differentiators, including paid time off for volunteer work in the community, access to onsite fitness facilities and a flexible work schedule.

“We have been committed to creating a culture of health in the workplace for many years because we believe it’s the key to employee engagement and productivity,” said Susan Burden, Beach Cities Health District CEO. “And as a public health agency, it’s important we lead by example and model the healthy behaviors internally that we want to see in our community.”

Now in its eighth year, the Best Places to Work in Healthcare program recognizes workplaces that empower employees to deliver the best possible health services and programs to clients and customers. Specifically, workplaces are judged on their office culture and leadership, employee benefits, employee health and wellness programs as well as the results of an anonymous employee opinion/satisfaction survey.
