As we approach the one-year commemoration of the passing of Sharp Grossmont Hospital CEO Michele Tarbet, we want to take the time to remember our beloved leader, colleague and friend whose spirit and legacy continue to live on throughout our hospital. As many of you know, Michele served as the CEO of Sharp Grossmont for 18 years; she left an indelible mark on Sharp Healthcare, Grossmont Hospital, the East County, and the countless individuals she worked with an knew.
She touched and inspired many people here at the hospital, from physicians and staff to volunteers and patients. She brought a high level of integrity to her work, and a genuine sense of caring.
Michele's accomplishments were many, but perhaps her greatest achievement and community legacy is the expansion of Sharp Grossmont into a premier medical center, an expansion which is still underway. She would be pleased to walk the campus to see the many improvements, the progress on the new Heart and Vascular center and the soon-to-be-completed Central Energy Plant, among them. She was also the driving force behind the purchase of two hospice homes and would be delighted to see the third home in Bonita.
Her greatest source of pride, however, would be that our team members continue to make Sharp Grossmont an extraordinary place for healing and compassion.
When you pass through the walkway between the Women's Center and the main hospital, take a moment to visit the beautiful stone marker and the memorial rose bush in her honor.
