(LANCASTER, CA – June 26, 2013) — The Antelope Valley Hospital (AVH) Auxiliary is continuing their support of future healthcare professionals by awarding $10,000 in scholarships to local high school students pursuing careers in the healthcare industry. Ten students have been selected to receive $1,000 each for their healthcare-related studies. The recipients were chosen from over 70 applicants and were awarded the scholarships based scholastic achievement, as well as school and community activities. To qualify, applicants were required to have a 3.5 grade point average or higher, live within the Antelope Valley Healthcare District, and have plans to pursue a career in a health-related field. Recipients were chosen by a scholarship committee headed by AVH Auxiliary President, Harriet Lee.
